NAHMA 2024 Continuing Education Tracking Form

The requirements set forth in the Fair Housing Act and Section 504 regulations are enormously complex and far-reaching. NAHMA’s Fair Housing Compliance™ (FHC™) course trains managers to understand these complex regulations, and provides clear instructions on fair housing laws.

The comprehensive, practical training manual for this course includes ready-to-use documents and forms to conduct a Section 504 Self-Evaluation and sample Transition Plan. The course teaches a step-by-step approach to determining the administrative and financial feasibility of making units accessible. Not only does NAHMA’s Fair Housing course cover the application process, which includes screening, accepting, and rejecting applicants, it also presents instruction on developing company-wide policies and procedures.

The Fair Housing Compliance is a required course for NAHMA’s NAHP® certification program. All participants who complete the course will be given a voucher to take the online exam. The voucher expires after three weeks. Students are notified immediately of their test results upon completion of the exam. Students who pass the online exam will receive a FHC certificate and will be listed in NAHMA’s online credential directory.

Once the FHC certificate is earned, you will need to renew it each year. Renewal includes earning 2 hours of continuing education (2 CEUs) each year, as well as payment of a modest renewal fee of $117 per year. Submission of the completed CEU form will be due each January along with your payment. The CEUs must be Fair Housing Compliance focused.

2024 FHC RENEWAL INFORMATION

Beginning in January 2024 you will be required to submit documentation of two Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) earned per year. Additionally, you will be billed a renewal fee of $117 annually to support the administrative maintenance of your FHC credential.

At the NAHMA conference in October 2022, it was discussed at great lengths among the NAHMA Education & Training committee, and the NAHMA Certification Review Board that we make these required changes to upgrade the value and meaningfulness of the FHC credential. A motion was made proposing these changes and unanimously approved and supported by all committee members to move forward with these changes beginning in 2024. Action was supported and taken due to the important and dynamic changes occurring in the realm of fair housing compliance on an ongoing basis.

The goal is to ensure that industry practitioners who have earned the NAHMA FHC remain leading experts and practitioners in fair housing compliance and thus reflect positively on their own career accomplishments, NAHMA and the affordable housing industry at large.

First request for documentation of CEUs earned (in 2023) along with the renewal invoice will be mailed to all FHC Certification Holders by the end of January 2024. Current Certification Holders were emailed and mailed notices in February 2023. The 2024 invoices will be mailed to those addresses where the notice were sent. If you would like to change your address information on file with NAHMA, please contact Leslie Marie O’Donnell, Manager of Education & Credentials @ lodonnell@nahma.org
