Registration for NAHMA’s 2027 NELLSManager Opens

NAHMA Emerging Leaders Learning Series event poster with dates and registration deadline.

The National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) has opened registration for the NAHMA Emerging Leaders Learning Series (NELLS) manager-level course, NELLSManager. Sessions begin Feb. 4, 2027. NELLSManager was developed in conjunction with affordable housing property management professionals and is designed exclusively for first-line staff to accelerate the growth of emerging industry leaders. Register today; space is limited.

NELLSManager focuses on three dimensions: leading yourself, leading teams and providing business leadership. Through group sessions and individual coaching, participants will learn how to strengthen their leadership competencies by developing the habits and skills needed to achieve results. Course topics include developing a manager mindset and personal management style, handling difficult conversations, delivering feedback, setting priorities, communicating strategically, managing change and managing resources.

The virtual course is a blended program that combines the benefits of cohort learning with executive coaching. In addition to three group sessions, participants receive two one-on-one coaching sessions that tailor the content to their individual needs. All sessions are held on Zoom. Group sessions begin at 2 p.m. Eastern and run 90 minutes, except for the first session, which runs 120 minutes to include program orientation.

The first group session, including orientation, is Feb. 4, followed by sessions on Feb. 25 and March 18. The two 60-minute coaching sessions are scheduled individually with each participant. Class size is limited to five to 15 participants, and registration is first-come, first-served. The registration deadline is Jan. 8, 2027. Tuition is $1,250 per person.

NAHMA and course facilitator Brenda Harrington created the NELLS course family to include two virtual programs designed to meet participants where they are in their professional development: the original NELLSExecutive and NELLSManager. NELLSManager serves first-line professionals, including property managers, leasing managers, maintenance managers and compliance specialists. The NELLSExecutive program is geared toward senior managers and leaders, typically at the director level and above, including regional managers and officers. The 2027 NELLSExecutive course will begin in August, with registration available starting in April.

Completing a NELLS course earns participants five continuing education units (CEUs) toward the six CEUs required annually to maintain their National Affordable Housing Professional (NAHP) or National Affordable Housing Professional-Executive (NAHP-e) credentials. Participants who complete the course also receive a complimentary two-year NAHMA Associate membership. To earn the CEUs, the membership and a certificate of completion, participants must attend all three group sessions and both coaching sessions. No CEUs are awarded for partial attendance.
