NAHMA members plan advocacy efforts for August Congressional Recess

Congressional lawmakers are in their home districts this month for the traditional “August Recess” work period, which runs through September 4th. Upon their return, Members of Congress will have only 12 scheduled days in session before the end of the current Fiscal Year on September 30, 2017. With housing program funding and tax policy on the agenda for the Fall, the in-district work period serves as an excellent opportunity to reach out to lawmakers. We encourage members to host site visits, visit town halls, or schedule meetings with legislators to emphasize the value of quality, safe, affordable housing in their districts. For information about joining in-district advocacy efforts, please review our recent grassroots alert or reach out to us directly. A NAHMAnalysis on the recent congressional focus on affordable housing – including on the appropriations and tax reform processes – is available to view here.
