Congress heads into Recess ahead of midterm elections
With the November elections just about a month away, many lawmakers headed to their home districts this week to hit the campaign trail. Members of the House went into recess this week and are not expected to return until after the midterm elections; meanwhile, Senators are wrapping up just a few key items in Congress before they begin their own recess.
Lawmakers are expected to take up negotiations on critical legislation, such as full-year fiscal year 2019 appropriations for HUD and USDA, upon their return in mid-November.
