NAHMA shares comments on Draft RFPs with House Financial Services Committee
This week, NAHMA provided comments and expressed our concerns on the current Performance-Based Contract Administrator (PBCA) procurement process. Specifically, the comments described how NAHMA members will be directly impacted by HUD’s new proposed HAP Contract National Support Services and HAP Contract Regional Support Services Model. NAHMA also joined our industry colleagues to submit joint comments on the negative impacts of the model. In addition to providing the comments to HUD, we have shared our comments with committee staff from the House Financial Services Committee, who have oversight of HUD. The committee staff requested a copy of NAHMA’s comments. NAHMA comments are available
here and the joint industry letter is available
here.
Lawmakers prepare another CR
This week, NAHMA learned that House and Senate appropriations staff are working on a stopgap funding bill, or continuing resolution (CR), that would keep the government operating through March 23 to prevent another government shutdown. Lawmakers are working toward a vote on another CR for early next week, before the current funding expires on Feb. 8.
March 23
rd would marry the CR with the nation’s debt ceiling. This week, the Treasury Department urged Congress to raise the limit by the end of February. Congressional leaders could try to add another CR with a spending caps deal, an overhaul of the nation’s immigration system, and the debt ceiling. They are facing an extremely short time frame to come to bi-partisan agreements and Republican leaders have not yet made a final decision on any plans.
