Congress Passes Weeklong Funding Bill to Avoid a Government Shutdown
Yesterday, the U.S. Senate passed a one-week funding bill to avoid a government shutdown and extend federal funding until Dec. 23rd. This provides congressional leaders additional time to negotiate a $1.7 trillion year-end spending package that they are rushing to finish before the holidays. The U.S. House previously passed the bill on Wednesday. Currently, negotiators are keeping the overall spending levels and other details private, to minimize opposition for the final bill with the rushed timeline.
At this time, it is also unclear if the final spending bill will include a tax package. Uncertainty remains over any LIHTC increases. NAHMA will keep members updated, as we learn additional details next week. We will publish a grassroots alert, focused on Congress finalizing FY23 funding and advocating LIHTC increases. Stay Tuned!!!
