August Congressional Recess kicks off amidst fiscal pressure
Lawmakers returned to their home districts this month for the “August Recess.” Upon their return in September, Members of Congress will have only a few short weeks to complete full-year funding bills for Fiscal Year 2020, which starts on October 1, 2019. The House has a head-start on many of the funding bills, but a conference will likely be necessary to reconcile differences between the chambers. NAHMA continues to advocate for full-year funding and will keep members up-to-date.
While lawmakers are in-district during the Recess, take the time to advocate for robust and timely investments in affordable housing programs, and advocate for strengthening the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. More information and advocacy resources are available online here.
