All high school seniors, high school graduates, and adults holding a high school diploma or GED living at an Affordable Housing Management Association (AHMA) member "affiliated property" are invited by the Board of Directors of the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) Educational Foundation to apply for scholarship grants for higher education to be awarded in 2012.
The NAHMA Educational Foundation issues this invitation to distinguished residents who are pursuing some type of higher education in college, university, community college, trade/ professional school or institute. The Foundation is a privately funded, non-profit organization that was created in 1994, and awarded its first scholarships in 2007, to further charitable and educational opportunities on behalf of residents living at an AHMA member "affiliated property." This is one of a very few foundations of this type in the nation. We encourage the financial support of corporations, companies, families, private trusts, and individuals wishing to join us in this effort to honor and assist those who are the future of their respective NAHMA communities.
Please contact Dr. Bruce W. Johnson of the Foundation at 215-262-4230 or bwjec@comcast.net if you have any questions concerning any phase of the Foundation's work to help students living in the AHMA sites.

The NAHMA Educational Foundation is organized and operated exclusively as a Section 501 c(3) charitable organization.
Founded in October 1994, the NAHMA Educational Foundation works in tandem with its sister organization, the 501(c)6 National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA).
The mission of the NAHMA Educational Foundation is to assist residents of federally subsidized housing as they strive to enhance their lives, job opportunities and children’s futures. Its mission is also to enhance the livability and standing of communities managed by NAHMA member companies nationwide.
The objectives of the NAHMA Educational Foundation are:
(a) to engage in activities to make scholarships possible for students living in low- income housing
(b) to conduct a yearly poster art contest that allows children, special needs and elderly affordable housing residents to submit artwork with a drug-free theme; every year the original artwork is auctioned off and all profits fund further scholarships through the Foundation
Over the past few years, the NAHMA Educational Foundation has seen continued, steady growth in fundraising efforts to provide scholarships to residents of affordable housing communities. The Foundation accepts contributions (tax deductible) at any time during the year. For more information, contact Brenda Moser at the NAHMA Educational Foundation at (703) 683-8630, ext. 12.

July 25, 2011- Alexandria, VA – The NAHMA Educational Foundation announced the awarding of 30 scholarships to residents who live in affordable housing communities owned and/or managed by members of NAHMA, the National Affordable Housing Management Association. The scholarships ranged from $1,000 to $2,000 each, for a total of $34,500. Since its beginning in 2007, the NAHMA Educational Foundation has awarded $179,500 in scholarships.
Competition for this year’s awards was extremely rigorous. Seventy-one students competed for scholarships. The awardees live in numerous states at properties managed by a wide range of companies. In addition to being members of NAHMA, these companies are members of eight out of 17 local Affordable Housing Management Associations (AHMAs) around the country.
The students all have outstanding academic credentials, as well as a wide range of extracurricular activities and involvement in community service. They include:
